I Tried this Mind Blowing Foil Ball Challenge

النص الكامل للفيديو

It's been 1 year since tried the ancient Japanese art of turning dirt into smooth, polished sphere. Recently though, tragedy struck and it fell off the shelf and smashed into like 100 pieces. So, think got to make another perfect shiny ball. But this time, I'm going to try the online trend from 2018 of using aluminum foil. The mission is simple. I'm going to see how long it will actually take to make one and if it can survive drop test and not break like the dirt ball did. First things first, got here brand new unopened pack of tin foil. And think the first step is just to unroll this whole thing and start to form the ball shape. dang it. the flat aluminum foil was slowly forming into ball shape while outside it was pouring rain, but really didn't mind. Got some good coffee, nice candle. It's cozy in here, so not bad way to spend rainy day. random way to spend it, but not too shabby. And that is the end of the roll. Bam. full roll of tin foil right here. It feels really big right now, but once like compact it and compress it down, think it'll become way smaller. So, that brings us to step number two. just got bunch of different hammers and mallets and this 25 lb dumbbell. And hopefully between all these different tools, well, between all these different tools, it'll start to compact it together. Here we go. Just smooshing it. I've only been doing this for like four minutes and I'm already tired and breathing heavily. So, either this is going to take lot more work than think or I'm out of shape. The answer might be bit of both, honestly. But regardless, kept going for while longer until yeah. Look at it. That's turning into something. There's like this flappy end piece here that just keeps popping up. So, don't know what to do about that. Maybe it'll just get smooshed into place over time. But look at that. Woo! I'm excited. mean, it's tin foil ball, but I'm excited. did not think it would be this much of workout. Like I'm legit sweating profusely right now. thought it would be pretty easy. Like boom boom hammer hammer bam shiny ball. But yeah, this is just the beginning stages. So give me minute here and then I'm going to move on to one of the mallets. This project was already requiring lot of sweat. Thankfully though, there was no blood or tears involved yet because that would be pretty Wow. this right on the thumb. But ain't slowing down. Sure, my thumb was throbbing, but am too committed now to stop. Flappy end piece is still problem, but it's looking like really good circle. Look at that. love it. Let's keep going. Nope. Actually, sorry. Stop for one sec. quick editing side note. In my previous dirt ball video, there was lot of people that were passionate about shapes. And so learned that calling it circle is incorrect. It's actually sphere. Whereas this right here, that's circle. And now let's further explore the spherical trigonometry that's present. Just kidding. Let's get back to the hammering. Hour number two. And I'm feeling good. Still going strong. The rain cleared for bit, so was thankful to get some fresh air and brought my hammering outside. As kept working away to get it all shiny and reflective, couldn't help but also reflect bit. year ago, when posted that Duradongo video and just started taking YouTube more seriously and putting my ideas and creations out there, had no clue what it would eventually become. Now, to have such an amazing community and all these people like you that are watching and supporting what make, it just it means lot to me truly. So, just want to say thank you and appreciate you and I'm just incredibly blessed to be able to do this as job and for creative guy like me, this is hands down the best possible dream job ever. So, thank you for making that happen. All right, enough of this sappiness. Back to the very professional and serious task at hand. making tin foil ball. Look at that. It's coming along slowly but surely. As took little lunch break, pondered about how was going to fix this dang flappy end piece. don't know what else to call it, so we're just going to go with that. thought about gluing it or maybe trying to melt it together, but decided that I'm just going to leave it for now. And then hopefully when we get to the sanding part, it'll be sanded just like all the edges so it's become super smooth and cohesive. don't know. Fingers crossed that works. After absolutely devouring my lunch, you can probably guess what did next. Yep, that's right. back to the repetitive task of hammering the ball. It was definitely starting to look good, though. And it even sounded different, like solid chunk of metal. We are officially 4 hours in and I'm feeling great. We are cruising along. Progress is good. Spirits are high and yeah, I'm just starting to really enjoy the process here. It's relaxing. It's rewarding and satisfying. So, no complaints. Let's keep her going. Time to use this teeny tiny hammer. Look how cute it is. Despite its small size, it was actually really effective in making it perfectly round. And was getting so excited to be finishing this part of the process. It's almost time to move on to the final step. I'm going to make it so nice and shiny. But first, got to go get some sandpaper. Let's get to it. The goal is to use different grits of sandpaper to sand away all the cracks and the blemishes so it just becomes super smooth and like seamless metal ball. Let's go. This is where would finally start to see some satisfying improvements to the texture of it and also hopefully solve the annoying problem of the flappy end piece. Woo! Yes. Okay, think that's working. Remember the flappy piece? That's like the bane of my existence on this project. Well, it's slowly blending in just like hoped. So, think with more and more sanding, it'll just become invisible. One perfect circle or sphere. Sorry. Sorry. sphere. And so for the next hour and half, this was my mission. Just man sanding away foil ball. You know what they say, good things take time. Well, this was certainly taking lot of time, so I'm really hoping it's worth it. You can't tell right here, but I'm actually smiling as proudly show off the progress. It was almost done. There was only one last thing to do. got this ultra fine 600 grit wet sandpaper. So, and it goes for little bath. And we just keep sanding. Feels weird doing it underwater, but hopefully this this helps finish it. I'm defin can't even speak. I'm definitely getting tired now. it's been long day making this thing, but can see the finish line. know said that sanding was the last step, but unfortunately there's one more step. It has gotten quite nice and shiny, but want it even shinier. want to be able to like see my reflection in it, like mirror. So, I'm going to polish it. The container says it's special polish for metal, but I've never used it before, so I'm just going to lather it on and hopefully it works. yeah, that's working. got long ways to go, but it's starting to really shine. Woo! If you thought was excited there, once used an electric polisher on it, was even way more pumped up. dang. Look how shiny it's getting. That's crazy. can see myself. This is the motivation that needed. The end of the project was so close. was determined to make the entire thing shiny and perfect, which of course took another hour of polishing. It is finally done. Made entirely of aluminum foil and determination. Here it is. Tada. Look at it. My perfect tin foil cannonball. love it. It's so beautiful and it's shiny and it's buttery smooth. know it's weird thing to be proud of, but look at this. made this thing and it took total of 8 and 1 half hours. Now, really don't want to do this, but have to. I've been nervous about this since the very beginning, but we got to do drop test and see if it breaks like the dirt ball did. I'm going to be so sad if it just like cracks right in half. that'd be terrible ending to today. But here we go. Three, two, one. yes. That's perfectly fine. Not even scratch. it's got some bounce to it. Dang. Built like cannonball. That's pretty crazy. am very happy that it didn't break. And guess I'll see you in year from now to make another type of weird ball. It's tradition now. Thanks for watching this video. You can check out another one if you have the time. And please subscribe too if you haven't yet. Thank you. Love you. Bye.
