Hello there my friends. welcome all of you from different corners of different countries and different continents from across our world to this week's Sabbath school summaries. This week we are studying lesson number 10 and the title is repentance and forgiveness. two very vital things that if we do not have them then our eternal life is at stake. But first, let's have word of prayer as we go deep into our lesson. Let's pray. Our dear heavenly father, we thank you for this moment. It is my prayer that your holy spirit will help us to precisely understand what is it you want us to learn from this lesson. May be very clear. May you draw all of us closer to you as we prepare for the soon return of our savior. thank you. pray in Jesus name. Amen. Now on the Sabbath afternoon, as already told you, the title for our entire week is repentance and forgiveness. We given the book of 1 John 1:9 as our memory text. And the Bible says if we confess our sins, he referring to God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. These are the kind of verses that read and gives me more courage and put smile on my face as walk through my spiritual journey every day. So lesson number one, God is ready to forgive all of us. Now this needs to be emphasized because we live in world where many people are already hopeless. People fall deep into sin and they think their own is done. Your own is not done, my friend. God is ready to forgive you. But mark this only if we confess our sins. If we are ready to confess, God is ready to forgive us all. The Bible says all unrighteousness. Now, having said that, the right of this lesson opens this lesson on the Sabbath afternoon by taking us back to the book of Exodus chapter 32 to chapter 34. The story of the children of Israel and Moses. Moses went up to the mountain. The children of Israel became restless and impatient to wait for Moses return. They pressured Aaron to make golden calf. Aaron succumbed to the pressure. He agreed and then he made golden calf. God's anger was kindled against them and he wanted to wipe them away. But the ending of the story was beautiful. Moses came and interceded on their behalf. Ask God to forgive them and then God extended mercy for them. This illustrates an example of repentance and forgiveness that if nation or even an individual is ready to repent, God is ready to forgive and extend some mercy to them. Now some other lessons we learned here is lesson number one the denza of impessence. The children of Israel the writer says became very impatient to wait for Moses's return and pressed Aaron to make golden calf. We live in world where there's lack of patience. We live in world in this generation where we want things done and we want it done now. We want things done fast. Fast food, fast internet, fast education, fast marriage, fast wealth, fast money, fast everything. And there's nothing wrong for wanting to achieve things so fast. have no problem with us wanting to achieve everything so fast. But critical in our spiritual journey, we need some level of patience. The den of impence impence led the children of Israel into sin. We need to learn some level of persons in life. Part Sunday says the of life. We given the book of Luke 10:4-42 as our text of reference on this part Sunday. This is part where we find Jesus coming to house of these two sisters Martha and Mary. Now when Christ arrived, Martha was so busy occupied in the kitchen trying to prepare things and serve the visitors. On the other hand, Mary was just sitting at the feet of Jesus listening to the teachings of Christ. And then Martha came to Jesus and said, "Master, is it not right for my sister to come and help me in the kitchen?" And then Christ responded and said to Martha, "You are worried and troubled about many things, but this one thing is needed that Mary has chosen, and I'm not going to take that away from her." Christ puts emphasis on Mary spending time with him over Martha running around trying to serve the visitors. Now, the writer of this lesson has also given us this story of lady who had very busy week. Before she knows it, it was sunset on Friday. The Sabbath was here. She did not do the things she needed to do to prepare for the Sabbath. She seemed so busy, consumed doing the urgent things, but she forgot to do the most important thing. And before she knows it, it was Sabbath morning. She woke up, the bathroom was not clean. She started to clean. She realized one of her son had wet the bed. She needed to wash the bed seats. She threw them in the cleaner to wash them. While she was doing that, she realized, there was no breakfast." She started to make breakfast. As she was doing, she realized there was no dessert for lunch. She started to bake some banana bread. While she was doing that, she realized, "Oops, my husband's clothes were not iron." She started to iron. As she ironed that, she realized, oops, many clothes were not folded. She started to fold. And as she was doing all these things, it hit her that it was the Sabbath day, day for her to spend time with God. And this day is being distracted by all these things that she was doing. And then she started to cry and realized these things have consumed her time and taken her away from spending time with God. We are discussing the rush of life. We live in very busy world. But some lessons we pick from part Sunday here is lesson number one. Don't let the urgent things replace the important things. This lady in this story was consumed in doing the urgent thing and then she forgot the most important thing to spend time with God. Martha on the other hand was also consumed in doing the urgent things. She forgot the most important things. So in life always sort out the urgent things from the important things. Lesson number two, busyiness can be spiritual distraction. Martha was so busy occupied with serving and accomplishing tasks, she neglected time with Christ. And some of the distractions we have are not bad things. These are good things. Notice even what Martha was doing was not bad thing. Serving Christ was not bad thing. But Christ puts emphasis on spending time with him. Now this is very critical and needs to be emphasized because have seen in our different churches sometimes deacons and sometimes leaders of the church get so busy in doing activities around the church. Sometimes they don't even find time to attend the main service. Now you may argue and say yes that is also one way of serving God. fully agree with you totally in agreement we can serve God in different ways but as we do that we should not forget the one thing spending personal time with God part says Holy Spirit prompings we given the book of Hosea chapter 6 on this chapter in fact on verse one the emphasis is on come let us return to the Lord he desires to heal what sin has damaged in us. That is the main emphasis on this chapter 6 of the book of Hosea. Now on this part Monday, Holy Spirit prompings. The right of this lesson is putting emphasis on the fact that sometimes the Holy Spirit prompts us and convicts us of our wrongdoings. But sometimes as human beings, we find it so hard to acknowledge the voice of the Holy Spirit. The critical lesson we learn here is lesson number one. Sometimes it is very easy to justify our own wrongdoings. The big question the right has left us here is how do we respond when we are rebuked? What is our response? Are we being defensive and trying to justify our wrongdoings? Or do we recognize we have gone far and we allow the Holy Spirit and God to transform and to restore us? That's the main thing the writer is putting across here. Otherwise, if we keep justifying our wrongdoings, the Holy Spirit will keep prompting and keep prompting and keep convicting. But that prompting and convicting will never help us, will never transform us and will never restore us. Part Tuesday says real repentance. We given the book of Acts 3:8 to verse 19. On this part, the writer emphasizes that throughout the Bible, the message of repentance is loud. In fact, the main message of John the Baptist to his audience then was repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. When Jesus Christ also came, he says the time is fulfilled. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe the gospel. So throughout the Bible, we find the call to repentance standing very loud. And even today that call has been extended to us. God is saying repent the kingdom of heaven is at hand. In fact the book of acts chapter 3 verse 19 says repent therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the lord. And the book of Romans chapter 2:4 says it is the kindness and goodness of God that leads us to repentance. It is the Holy Spirit that helps us to repent. Now on this part, the writer of this lesson also addresses this very critical question of what is real repentance. Number one, the writer says real repentance is sincere pain and sorrow for our sins. Notice repentance includes feeling pain and sorrow for our sins, not just the consequences of what sin can bring to us. And then number two, the writer says repentance is honest decision to abandon sin. So two things, feeling pain and sorrow for our sins, but also honest decision to abandon that sin. That is real repentance. Now the other critical lesson we pick from here is God is giving us time to put everything right just before Christ's return. The writer of this lesson has given us second Peter chapter 3:9 which says, "The Lord is not slack or slow concerning his promises as other people may count slackness, but is long-suffering towards us and is not willing that any should perish and that all should come to repentance." And the writer of this lesson says, "As we personally prepare for the second coming, God is giving us time to put everything right. May the Holy Spirit help us. May God help us to put everything right." Now, part Wednesday says, "Sufficient grace." We're given the book of Exodus, chapter 34, 1 to 10. Now the writer of this lesson keeps taking us back to the story of the failure of the children of Israel on this part simply to emphasize the fact that God's covenant love is much more stronger than our human failures. The children of Israel repeatedly rebel against God. Repeatedly they left God but God extended mercy to them repeatedly also. So this part is emphasizing the fact that God's grace is very sufficient is enough and his love is stronger than our failures. Psalms 103:8 says, "The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in mercy." Romans 6:23 says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 5 20- 21 the Bible says, "But where sin abound, grace abound even much more." Romans 5:8 says, "But God demonstrates his love for us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." The emphasis here is that no matter our failures, the love of God is much stronger. His grace is very much stronger than our failures. That's the key emphasis here. So the critical key lesson we pick from part Wednesday here is that God's grace is greater than our repeated failures. Therefore never run away from this God even after failure. In fact come much more closer to him because his love is greater than your failure. His grace is sufficient. Pataz says the most expensive rob. We're given the book of Matthew chapter 22 verse 1 to verse14. This is part where we find Christ giving us parable of this king who had organized wedding feast for his son. banquet invited so many guests and when the time for the wedding draw nigh, he sent out servants to go and tell the guests that it is time. Everything is prepared. Everyone has to come for this wedding feast. But the invited guest paid no attention. They all ended up going about their business. Some went to their farm, others went to the store, others went to different places. And worse still, the Bible says some of the guests grabbed the servants, the messengers, beat them up, and killed them. The king was so furious, he ended up telling his servants to go to the streets and invite anybody to come to this wedding. And then random people came in their numbers. The wedding room was full. But the king stood up and walked around to inspect the crowd. And lo and behold, he spotted one person who did not have the wedding garment. He did not put on the wedding garment. And the king stepped up to him and asked him and he says, "My friend, why are you not dressed in the wedding garment?" And the Bible says this man kept quiet. He did not respond. And the king ordered for him to be thrown out. He got thrown out of the wedding feast. That is the parable that we are given here. The very first lesson we learn here is that this man was kicked out. He was rejected from the feast not because there was no robe to wear. Not because there was no wedding garment but because he chose not to wear this garment. Lesson number two, God is also inviting all of us. The same way this king has invited his guests to this feast. The biggest question for all of us is how are we going to respond to the invitation of God? Are we going to beat his servants up? Are we going to pay no attention? Are we going to go about our business? And then lesson number three, even our best efforts cannot replace the rob of Christ. The right of this lesson has given us an illustration of Adam and Eve. After they sinned, the righteous rob of Christ left them. They realized they were naked. They started to put on fig leaves. But even that fig leaves could not cover them from their unworthiness. The writer of this lesson says, "Nothing can man device to supply the place of his lost robe of innocence. There's no any outward performance we can do to cover up our unworthiness. Not even clothes, no matter how expensive they are deemed to be out there in the world, they are not able to cover our sinfulness. It is only the righteous rob of Christ that can cover us from our unrighteousness. So no effort from us can replace that rob of Christ. Now part Friday thoughts, this is not always my part.
