Square Roots and Cube Roots Math with Mr J

النص الكامل للفيديو

Welcome to math with Mr. In this video, I'm going to cover square roots and cube roots. We will take look at what both square roots and cube roots are. The best way to do this is to jump right into our examples. Starting with number one where we have six and 36. We are going to start by taking look at square roots for numbers one and two. And then we will move to cube roots for numbers three and four. Now, in order to understand square roots, we are going to start by looking at squaring number. For example, let's do six squared. Now, six squared, that equals 36. Remember, squaring number means to multiply it by itself. So, six squared means six times six, which equals 36. So, again, six squared equals 36. Now, the square root of number is the inverse or opposite of squaring number. We are going in reverse of squaring number, so to speak. When it comes to square roots, we need to think, what number multiplied by itself will equal the number under the root symbol? For example, let's find the square root of 36. So, what number multiplied by itself equals 36? Well, we know that six times six equals 36. So, the square root of 36 is six. Again, the square root of 36 equals six. Let's move on to number two where we have the square root of 49. Well, what number multiplied by itself equals 49? We know that 7 * 7 = 49. That means that the square root of 49 = 7. So, there's brief overview of square roots. Let's move on to cube roots and take look at numbers 3 and 4. Starting with number 3, where we have 4 and 64. Now, in order to understand cube roots, we are going to start by looking at cubing number. For example, let's do 4 cubed. Now, 4 cubed = 64. When we cube number, we multiply that number by itself three times. So, 4 cubed means 4 * 4 * 4. 4 * 4 is 16 * 4 is 64. So, again, 4 cubed = 64. Now, the cube root of number is the inverse or opposite of cubing number. We are going to go in reverse of cubing number, so to speak. When it comes to cube root, we need to think, what number multiplied by itself three times equals the number under the cube root symbol? For example, let's find the cube root of 64. So, what number multiplied by itself three times equals 64? Well, we know that 4 * 4 * 4 = 64. So, the cube root of 64 is 4. Again, the cube root of 64 = 4. Let's move on to number 4, where we have the cube root of 27. So, what number multiplied by itself three times equals 27? Well, three times three times three equals 27. 3 * 3 is 9 * 3 = 27. That means that the cube root of 27 equals three. So, there's brief overview of cube roots. Now, to recap, for square roots, we need to think about what number multiplied by itself will equal the number under the root symbol. For cube roots, we need to think about what number multiplied by itself three times will equal the number under the cube root symbol. So, there you have it. There's an explanation of square roots and cube roots. hope that helped. Thanks so much for watching. Until next time, peace.
