How to Make a Rose Crown

hello welcome to another video this is part of our real wedding series and I'm going to show you how to make flower crown for flower girl or for bridesmaid or if you just want to make one for yourself to wear around the house let's get started well we're going to start with today are two pieces of 20 gauge wire this is the standard length that floral wire comes in didn't cut it and it doesn't come in spool so this is just the length and what I'm going to do is tape the two together so that we have nice strong base for your Garland but before do that am going to pull these apart little bit so that you just have single wire about 2 in on each end and the reason I'm going to do that is we're going to bend these back at to to use as hook and we're going to tape these together now with floral tape and chose this sort of olive green tape think is very forgiving I'm going to start I'm going to tape it together in the middle and go all the way down you see you hold your tape kind of vertical against your wire you use lot less tape and takes lot less time and then I'm going to go back and do this end and so you have the base for your garlic and the two ends we got we have about 1 and half to 2 in of wire that's just single single wire we're going to pull these back and make little hook what we're going to do is tie ribbon on it so that you can tie that around your head and then we're going to tape that down so that you've got like little loop at the end and we're going to throw some ribbon through okay and that's pretty simple that's how I've always done flower crowns and then what we're really going to do is make like small Garland along this wire and the materials we're going to use today are the miniature eucalyptus I've chose two different miniature eucalyptus one with sort of this willowy oblong leaf and the other is more of like this silver dollar style but miniature version and we're also going to use million stars million stars is more clustered smaller version of baby's breath and we're using these spray roses that will add in later now what will do is highly recommend you cut all your materials down to the size that you're going to need so for this for instance we'll cut them down in little pieces like this and then for the willowy stemed willowy Leaf eucalyptus we cut like this now you can use the tips as well as the medium lengths and then if there's leaves that'll you strip them out like that just show you how to do some of these cuz have't mostly done because don't want to spend lot of time just doing you know cutting materials down to size just want to let you see what it looks like and here in tray have the Silvery eucalyptus the willowy eucalyptus and little sprigs of the million stars okay the million stars you just cut them in the little sprigs like this they're sort of like main cluster if you want to just use the main cluster just cut that off okay and I'll put these aside cuz think we have enough here if not we always have the option of cutting more from these stems okay and I'm going to show you how to make Garland so what I'll do is will take couple pieces of the eucalyptus maybe three pieces it doesn't have to be perfect and piece of the million stars now at the end here I'm going to have this be the end and cover our loop it's going to go up over our Loop you going use your floral tape and tape it onto this lead or this wire base that you made okay don't tape it all the way down it's going to take you hours and hours okay just going to tape it like that and then cut the extra long stems off okay and then you just keep going and it doesn't have to be exactly the same materials for every sprig in this one I'm going to do two of the willowy Eucalyptus in sprig of this eucalyptus the silver eucalyptus and some million stars that's going to go right over that last sprig you did and you're going to go ahead and take that down you don't have to tape all the stems just enough to secure it because you don't you want these to be exposed so you can cut it off the reason want to cut it off is it's going to get too heavy otherwise if you have long stems going all the way down and when you bend this into crown shape those stems going to come poking out so we're just to keep working down the length here that's how you make Garland at this flower market they have specialty greens men who make garlands for you like large garlands when we do it for arches and things like that so you don't have to make it yourself they're expensive though they're sold by the foot and think the going rate right now is something like $102 foot for garlands so that's something we need to budget in if you're going to be doing an arch okay so we've come to the end of the Garland only little tiny bit left what do is the very end of the garland that last little sprig we're going to turn it around so that you have double-ended Garland so it doesn't just end with blunt edge here we're going to go ahead and turn this around think I'll add another sprig of this here just to hide any tape that we have and what I'll do is I'm going to turn it around so that you have double-ended Garland okay so that'll be perfect but we'll hide it with the rose later okay tape that off so we have double-ended Garland and now what we're going to do is make this into crown turn it like this bend it the shape of head okay this is when you know if you've made your Garland well if it's too sparse you haven't overlapped enough you're going to see lot of gaps this is nice so you're not going to see any gaps okay going to cut some of these stems off that are visible and you have little wreath we're not done yet we're going to glue some beautiful garden spray roses on here now this glue is indispensable for doing corsage and flower crowns it's the Oasis floral adhesive it's especially product with Flores you don't try any other glue this glue is amazing it's sort of like stickier waterproof version of rubber cement but it's amazing it's waterproof you can work with it even when your hands are wet even if your materials are slightly wet and you can't even pull these flowers off once they set trust me it's an amazing product it's also really messy so am going to put some cellophane down this is just cellophane from the million stars that bought found that the cellophane wrapper from your flowers is great work service for the school okay what we're going to do is just cut some of these little roses off all the way no stems left just cut them off use our flower adhesive and you might want to pull some of these green seil off because you want kind of flat bottom here put the glue on there what I'll do is I'll put the glue on have them upside down cuz if the glue dries just little bit I'm talking about just minute or two it seems to stick even better not long time but just couple minutes okay have the flower heads upside down pulling any of the green seil off that will be in your way cuz you want nice clean flat bottom Rose here these spray roses are great because see how very flat in profile and very full blooming so they'll set nicely in this Garland okay start with the first row that just put glue on and I'm going to put it start on this in here got to set it in the Garland see how that so pretty kind just space it throughout this is going to be flower crown that is sort of uniform throughout we've done ones that have focal point where you can cluster flowers only on one part of it asymmetrically think that'd be very pretty especially if for grownup have more asymmetrical designed Garland of flowers to wear okay so we're mostly done going to put little baby's breath in that on the tape here that is showing this is the tape that when we turned around the Garland there's kind of gap there you can't help it but have gap there so I'm just going to put little bit of greenery to hide it hide that tape okay then going do one more of those put that Rose where that joint is or close to it so that you don't see it okay just hold it little bit use yourself thing to clean the tip of your glue cap it really tightly and there is our flower crown all done the only thing left is to add the ribbon to it so have two lengths of ribbon here we're going to thread it through that Loop we made earlier make sure they're equal distance equal length tie it off that's one side of the your end there's the other side and we are all done with our flower crown it's all done ready to wear like to make these flower crowns open in the back so it's adjustable the flower crown feel does not have to go all the way around the head it be very hard to make because heads are all different sizes but if it's open in the back and you can tie it off it's adjustable and
