Welcome to Math with Mr. In this video, I'm going to cover what right triangle is. Now, simply put, right triangle is triangle with right angle. So, an angle that measures exactly 90° and that's it. It doesn't matter what the other angles are. If triangle has right angle, it's right triangle. Now, when we take look at types of triangles or classifying triangles, we can classify by either the sides or the angles. Right triangles are type of triangle based on the angles. So, classified by the angles. Now, here are couple of examples of right triangles and you'll notice box in the corner of these examples. That box represents 90° angle. Even though we don't see 90° written there, we still know it's 90° angle because of that box. And box in the corner is very common as far as showing 90° angles and it doesn't have to be triangle, it can be any shape. And one last thing do want to mention as far as right triangles, it's only possible to have one right angle in triangle. Remember, the sum of the angles always equals 180° for triangles. So, the angles of triangle always add up to 180°. For example, number one, we have 45° + 45° + 90°, that equals 180° and then for number two, we have 27° + 63° + 90°, that equals 180° as well. If we have two 90° angles, that equals 180°. So, we can't make triangle. We can't have third angle. So, just something to think about and keep in mind. So, there you have it.
