Welcome to Math with Mr. In this video, I'm going to cover what an equilateral triangle is. Now, simply put, an equilateral triangle has three sides that are equal in length. So, all of the sides are the same. And that's it. It's as simple as that. Now, when we take look at types of triangles or classifying triangles, we can classify by either the sides or the angles. Equilateral triangles are type of triangle based on the sides. So, classified by the sides. Here are couple of examples of equilateral triangles. For number one, all of the sides are 5 in. They are all the same length. Now, for number two, we don't have measurement written for each side of the triangle, but there is one mark, one tick on each side, and this tells us that all of those sides are the same. So, although we don't have the measurements written, we can still tell that this is an equilateral triangle based on those marks. So, all three sides are the same. And one last thing do want to mention about equilateral triangles, all of the angles end up being the same as well. All angles measure 60° for equilateral triangles. So, let me write this in here. 60° 60° and 60°. So, there you have it. There's what an equilateral triangle is.
