Welcome to Math with Mr. In this video, I'm going to cover how to find the area and perimeter of triangle. And specifically, we're going to be taking look at right triangle. Now, remember, perimeter is the distance around the outside of shape, and then area is the amount of space or surface something covers. For the perimeter, we need to add all of the side lengths. And then for the area of triangle, we use the formula base * height / 2 or 1/2 * base * height. Dividing by 2 and multiplying by 1/2 give us the same result. So, either formula works and will give us the correct area. I'm going to use base * height / 2 in this video. Now, go into more detail about finding the area of triangles and this formula in another video. That link is in the description. Let's jump into our example, and we will start by finding the perimeter of this right triangle. So, perimeter equals and then again, for perimeter, we need to add all of the side lengths. So, we have 15 17 and 8 So, 15 + 17 + 8. Keep in mind, it doesn't matter what order you add the side lengths in, you'll get the correct perimeter however you do it. So, let's start with 15 + 17. That gives us 32. + 8 gives us 40. So, the perimeter equals 40 Now, we can move on to finding the area of this triangle. And we can start by writing out the formula. So, area equals base * height / 2. Let's plug in the base and height now. We're going to use 8 for the base and then 15 for the height. We do not need this 17 in order to calculate the area. So, let's plug in 8 for the base * 15 for the height / 2. Now, we can work through this. So, let's start with 8 * 15. That gives us 120. So, we have 120 / 2. 120 / 2 gives us final area of 60 square meters. So, for that right triangle, we have perimeter of 40 and an area of 60 square meters. So, there you have it. There's how to find the area and perimeter of triangle. And specifically, we worked with right triangle. Just remember, for the perimeter, we add all of the side lengths.
